great day for the park! / etsy love.

Piper, Brian, and I all had lunch at the park this afternoon. After we were done eating, a few of our friends showed up! I grabbed some great photos of piper swinging and playing, and our little friend Bella. We all had too much giggly fun.

She is so precious!

In other news, I've been scouring Etsy now for about three days, looking for Valentine's day gifts that I would want or that I could get for Brian. I have just been completely blown away by some of the jewelry I've found. People are so talented and creative. It makes me want to do so many different things! If ever I had the time.

But, these are just a few of my favorite rings!

I'm thinking I want to get Brian a ring as well. All of the rings I would like to get for him are not pieces that he likes. Haha. I have a more bohemian, rustic taste in jewelry, whereas he likes more geometric or stylized kinds of jewelry. Which I appreciate, as well. But these are some of my favorites that I'm sifting through for Brian.

SALON: ruffling!

Today I finished all the adorable ruffles on the styling stations. I thought I'd post some photos while in the process of hanging one.

The corner.

About to create a pleat in the fabric.
I should have taken more photos while I was pleating and hot-gluing the fabric to the stations, but I just didn't. Haha. But all I did was fold the fabric twice in one spot and glue it all down. I was going to nail it all up there, but the nail gun really scared me!

The result is so cute! And hot glue is almost magical to me. It's been forever since I used it.

The gallery walls are probably my favorite part of the design of the whole place. My mom and I have created several just by hanging mirrors, photos, and random things in bunches! Pinterest is what truly gave me that idea. It spruces up any room, and gives use to some of those extra things you have lying around that you picked up for super cheap at thrift stores and yard sales. Or maybe that's just my hoarder inside talking!

SALON: progress!

I've done a whole lot between that last salon post I made and now! But I wanted to update!

A few weeks ago, I figured out that my idea for dressers as stations was not going to work. So, my step dad custom built these larger-than-life styling stations for me!

I took this photo just after I attached one ruffle to my station. I thought the pink brightened the entire room up.  It's just such a pretty color and I feel like it makes everything look more girly and fun! It softens the hard lines  and the darkness of the stations. I'm starting to incorporate more pink things throughout the salon now.

This is one of the gallery walls. My brother spray painted the piece of drift wood red. Since all the equipment is red, I also want to incorporate more red things into the overall appearance. I got the Marilyn picture at Wal-Mart and I love it so much! I have another photo of her that I want to hang, but I haven't decided if I really want to do that or not. I really need more hair-related photos and the space to hang them. But I just feel like Marilyn is so feminine, beautiful, and such an icon, that it would fit into the design and bring just that much more life to the building and my business.

just a quick note!

I just wanted to update everyone and say that the salon is coming along so well! Within the next few days, I will have a HUGE picture update to share!

To get a little personal, I am so happy. I honestly feel like one of the luckiest people in the universe to have such amazing and supportive loved ones around me.

I have been having so many great ideas for the salon and my brand in general, and I'm actually going to be doing a giveaway of a couple of organic beauty products that I'm in the works of creating really soon. Can't wait to get the ball rolling!

SALON: project disappointment.

I just over the past couple of days somehow figured out that my vintage dressers as stations idea may not work. I'm really upset about it, but, I guess everything can get figured out. I tend to be pretty crafty!

Just wanted to vent, a little.

salon.

For anyone who doesn't know, I'm in the process of opening a salon. With the help of my step-dad, James, and my lovely boyfriend, Brian, I've made a lot of progress with it and we just started the project mid-December. To involve all of you lovely people in the process, I'm going to post a few blogs that are in timeline fashion of the project from start to present. Also, we've been working on it for more than 7 days, but these are just main days that major renovations happened. These are the only photos I've taken so far.

I am just too terribly excited about it and thanks to everyone whose been super supportive!

SALON: coming along so well!

My step-dad got the floor painted for me! I also picked out the adorable clock for $15 at Big Lots! I almost can't believe how much progress we've made in such a short period of time. But all the hard work is so worth it, and everyday I just can't wait to work on it more and more! Everyone has been such a big help and so understanding of my "vision" that I am just beside myself.

Here are some other pieces I'm refurbishing and using.

Station mirror.

Medicine cabinet style bathroom mirror!

Gross 70s wallpaper DIY project for someone way back when, apparently.

After I painted the inside of the mirror.
